As a study center, we are not only responsible for a smooth study process, but are also active in teaching.

With our diverse selection of computer science courses, we offer highly topical and extremely captivating seminars, practicals and lectures every semester.

Current courses in the winter semester 2023/2024

Introduction to computer science

Lecture

Dr. Simon Völker, Dr. Dirk Thissen

The lecture "Introduction to Computer Science" (formerly "Application Software and Internet") covers the following topics, among others: Fundamentals (information/number representation, application programs, ...), computer structures (including Boolean algebra), operating systems (including UNIX), computer networks (protocols and networks, network technologies, ...), Internet (services on the Internet, WWW, ...) and database systems (including SQL).

Lasting Research in Networks

Proseminar

Dr. Dirk Thissen

Computer science is a fast-paced science - there is a great deal of research work that is topical for a short time but then quickly loses its importance. A few topics, however, remain relevant for years or decades. This proseminar deals with such topics - research work in the field of networks and the Internet that is still relevant ten years later.

Game Developing Lab

Hands-on Lab

Florian Busch, Dr. Simon Völker

Digital learning is a generic term for all types of technology-supported learning. Both Distance Learning and In-Person Learning can be included to varying degrees. All can include Digital Learning in one way or another. According to Georgiagov, digital learning consists of three aspects: technology, digital content, and instruction.

Selected Topics in 3D Shape Analysis

Seminar

Dr. Isaak Lim

In this seminar, we will cover topics from Shape Modelling (i.e. 3D shape creation and design by a user) and Shape Analysis (i.e. the extraction of more abstract…

Selected Topics in Digital Learning

Digital learning using the example of digital gamebooks

Seminar

Dr. Svenja Noichl

The idea of gamebooks originally comes from the entertainment sector. The basic idea here is to let the readers themselves determine the further course of the story. This proseminar provides an introduction to the topic of digital gamebooks.

Proseminar
3 CP

The idea of gamebooks originally comes from the entertainment sector. The basic idea here is to let the readers themselves determine the further course of the story. With a transfer of this principle from classic books to digital environments, possibilities for use in a teaching/learning context also arise. This proseminar gives an introduction to the topic of digital gamebooks.
